This wine displays a brilliant inky, vibrant violet hue, distinctive of Malbecs from Argentina. Followed by aromas of tobacco, fig, rosemary and a brilliant salinity. A palte bursting forward with blueberry, dark chocolate and fresh red fruits. The fine grained tannins follow forward onto a lingering and voluptuous finish. This is a multi-layered wine, well rounded, full-bodied of exceptional balance, power, and finesse. A true expression of a an exceptional place. With long ageing potential.

THE VINEYARD

La Carmela vineyard is located on the southern part of Uco Valley, planted in the highest area of the Tunuyan River alluvial fan. It expresses the unique identity of Apellation Paraje Altamira. The soil, of alluvial origin, is composed of sand, silt, and clay with underlying stones and large granite rocks covered with calcareous material and a complexity found only in the foothill of the Andes. It is here we source our Malbec from 60 year old vines.

IN THE CELLAR

From the vineyard to the cellar the grapes go through various selection processes to ensure we get only the best fruit. Hand harvested into small lug boxes and transported to the cellar. Where grapes go through a hand sorting, they are then transfered by gravity into unlined concrete vessels for fermentation, using only native yeasts. Maticulous hand punch downs are done for the duration of fermentation. And the wines are then moved to 60% new and 40% second fill french oak barrels for 20-24 months.
